From Pune, Goa is about 440 km (North Goa) to 520 km (Palolem). Two main routes:
Route 1: NH48 (fastest, ~9 hrs)
- Pune → Satara → Kolhapur → Belgaum → Panaji
- Highway all the way, best for night drives
Route 2: Konkan coastal (NH66, ~12 hrs but scenic)
- Pune → Tamhini Ghat → Mahad → Chiplun → Ratnagiri → Sindhudurg → Goa
- Stops at Ganpatipule, Tarkarli, beaches
- Best done over 2 days
Most travellers prefer leaving Pune Friday night ~10 pm and arriving in Goa by 7 am for a long weekend. Tempo Traveller is the most comfortable for groups.
